Christmas Eve is on a Sunday this year, so we start the day in Advent during our regular worship time, and close the day celebrating the birth of our savior!
This year you have three options for worship times:
For those who will prefer to worship before darkness is deep or a worship opportunity before other festivities will begin: 4:00 p.m. festive worship (sunset at 4:31 pm the 24th)
Do you prefer deeper darkness to accentuate the candlelight or prefer your meal to come before gathering in worship (and 10:00 feels “too late”), another festive worship service is offered at 7:00 p.m.
To celebrate Christ’s birth in the otherwise more silent time of night, participation in the 10:00 p.m. worship, when bell and voice choirs will enhance the worship experience, may suit you best.
While each worship service will have its unique feel, all experiences of worship will include the traditions of carols, the retelling of the Christmas story, the meal of Jesus’, and a lighting of candles as Silent Night is sung.
Please note in addition: Christmas Eve falls on the first night of BSLC’s three evenings for hosting guests in shelter, so there may be additional activity in the narthex/entry way. The shelter guests are invited to join in any of the worship opportunities as it feels comfortable to them.
